Little Prince Baby Shower Cake
When our Niece was expecting our Great Nephew, My sisters & I knew he would be a "Little Prince", loved & adored by all. So we decided to have a whole "Little Prince" themed baby shower.
I made a lovely 2-tiered French vanilla cake. It consisted of 12 inch and 6 inch layers with mocha filling, frosted with buttercream. I colored some of my homemade fondant baby boy blue with Wilton cornflower blue paste. The rest I left white. On the bottom tier I made blue polka dots using a small round fondant cutter (1"I think). On the top tier I used 2 different size square fondant cutters the outside blue & the inside white.
Placed them in a diamond shape & put his initials inside. I planned for them to look like baby blocks (I think it worked). Then I put a little prince crown that I bought at my local cake decor store on its side by the blocks. For the topper I made my very first ever pair of baby shoes out of fondant( a couple of days early so they could dry).I got the pattern & directions from a website.
Finally I finished it off with a simple shell border. The cake was big hit at the shower & my Niece couldn't believe the baby shoes were edible.
