Sleeping baby-cake instructions
by: Mad Batter Bakery

I'm glad that you like this cake; it is one of my favorites, too. I layered two sheets of cake for the bed. I covered the cake with butter cream and then layered on top an oversized rectangular piece of fondant to make it look like the blanket. For the baby's head I made a ball of cake and covered it with beige fondant. I used the hat to cover the area where the fondant merged. For the body I carved an oval-shape cake about double the size of the head and I covered it with beige fondant. To make the blanket, I embossed the fondant first and then cut small squares in blue and green and I layered them, alternating colors, on top of a piece of white fondant (very thin). Then working quickly, I put the blanket on top of the baby and lifted some areas to give it some movement. If you have any question please email me at themadbatterbakery@yahoo.com

Sleeping baby shower cake

I would absolutely love to attempt to make this cake for my daughter's first baby [my first grandchild]. This is so adorable. I love the creativity as well as the simplicity. If you could send me any directions, I would be more than appreciative. I don't want an 'ordinary' cake for her--I want something amazing and this certainly fits the bill. Thanks for any help!
