I love all the creativity that went into this Winnie the Pooh baby shower cake! The details are so much fun to look at. I think my favorite part of the whole cake is the honey coming out of the beehive. So cute! Thanks so much for sharing your adorable baby shower cake with us Lynn!
Lynn's Baby Shower Cake Instructions:
A good friend of mine called & asked me to make a Winnie the Pooh baby shower cake for her soon to be born grandson.
I made Pooh Bear out of fondant about 5 days early to allow drying time. I also made the honey bees early, but they are made of gum paste. I inserted a piece of floral wire that I wrapped around a dowel to make them look like they were buzzing around the top of the cake.
The 12" layer of this cake a white cake with raspberry filling & the 6" layer is chocolate fudge with mocha filling. I bake the "bee hive" in a small 1 cup glass prep bowl & it is also white.
I frosted the bottom 2 tiers with white butter cream & colored the bee hive with a little bit of brown coloring piped on with a #10 round frosting tip in a spiral pattern. Then I sprinkled yellow sparkles on it.
I tinted some of my homemade marshmallow fondant with Wilton Pooh Bear Red & Gold. I used the red to cut his name "LEVIE" with 1" fondant letter cutters & the red diamond shapes that are on the bottom tier & Winnie the Pooh's shirt. I used the gold to cut diamond shapes that are on the top tier & to sculpt the Pooh Bear that I placed on the bottom tier with his back to the top tier. (This was my 1st time sculpting an animal).
Then for some added interest I place Pooh Bear's friends that I had bought for this cake on the tiers with him.
The finishing touch was the gold piping gel "honey" that I drizzled coming out of the hive.
She was delighted with this cake.
