I put together a "sprinkle" for a 3rd time mom. She knew she was having a girl, and her nursery theme was pinks and purples with butterflies, ladybugs and dragonflies. I decided a diaper cake would be perfect.

I made a diaper cake for both daughter's baby showers. The first was traditional, in pink, with a bear on top; the second had a "honey bee" theme in the nursery, so I used that on the cake, finding toys and rattles with a bee theme. I was trying to find some honey bees to add to the centerpieces. I couldn't find anything, so I made them from pipe cleaners.

This was my first diaper cake. It had a pretty simple theme - the recipient had some sassy brand bug-shaped grooming supplies on her registry, so I did a 'sassy critter' theme based on that. Inside the cake there is a box of wipes on the bottom two tiers and a tube of diaper rash cream on the top layer. It was pretty tricky to make the diaper wipers level, so next time I will use a car window shade to support the center since it would go through all three layers.
On the outside there are three different critter-themed plastic bibs, some booties with bugs on them, some animal wrist shakers, a ladybug pacifier, and a tickle fish toy, all by sassy brand (except the pacifier). The bottom layer is covered by the bibs, the middle a receiving blanket, and the top a washcloth. Then the whole thing has curly ribbon to finish it off.

This cake along with matching wreath were made for my sisters baby shower. It is made up of almost 100 size 1 diapers. It has pink floral ribbon wrapped around the 3 layers. White flowers and blue butterflies are on the rim of the layers. It also has pink pens, pacifiers, and rattles. Pink and green ribbon streams from the top. I added the pink rose on the top at the shower. Both the wreath and the cake were big hits.
The baby's room is decorated in pink roses and butterflies, so they will be used for years to come.

I am a relatively new internet based company and need to get the word out. I love your site. I've used it so many times....to plan my daughter's three baby showers. I made a diaper cake for her at her shower and then got so many compliments on it so I decided to open a business doing these. I also do wreaths and lollipop bouquets (out of washcloths).

I thought I'd share my diaper cakes with you. Thanks to this website I'm hooked and going to make another one this week. These are my first attempts at making a diaper cake. I used a paper towel roll wrapped with a receiving blanket as the center core (your idea). Then as you can see I added onesies and other baby stuff as decor.

This was my 2nd diaper cake. First one I submitted a few months ago was a Pooh diaper cake. Same process but this time it's a girl!

I made this 4 tier butterfly, lamp cake with 115 size 1 diapers, 4 receiving blankets, some Johnsons products, 1 baby bottle and a cute butterfly lamp. I used the bottle and the lamp to wrap the diapers around, and secured the diapers with rubber bands and once each layer was finished, tied ribbon around them to hide the rubber bands. Then I glued some cute little wooden butterflies to the ribbon. Then I found some little rhinestones at the craft store and used them to put the baby's name on the top tier. The lamp took a lot of time to work around but I think it turned out well and is pretty unique!

I rolled diapers, secured with rubber bands. Tied ribbon around each level to hide rubber bands. On the outside row, I tied with ribbon instead of rubber bands. This cake seems to be everyone's 'favorite'. So fun to make.

Estimated assembly time is about 4 hours. Base was made out of a round Styrofoam wrapped with a receiving blanket. Bottom tier is about 20 rolled diapers. Top tier is about 10 rolled diapers. I used double sided tape and pink ribbons to secure baby items. Pink felt ribbon to hold together tiers. Items included are: 3 receiving blankets (not including the base), 2 size 12 month onesies, 4 washcloths, NUK baby bottle filled with Hershey's assorted candies, box set of 3 sing-along CDs, 2 pacifiers, baby shampoo, soap, lotion and powder, and a lady bug singing toy on top. I decorated it with pink silk flowers and lady bug embellishments.
